The Martha’s Vineyard Builders Association is seeking a dynamic and highly organized Special Projects Manager to spearhead key initiatives and events. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable working with diverse groups including committees, volunteers and vendors, and possess a hands-on approach to project execution. 

Job Title: MVBA Special Projects Manager 

Key Projects: Spark MV 

Reports To: MVBA Board Chairperson 

Time Commitment: Part time (10-20 hours per month) $30/hour 

Summary: 

The MVBA Special Projects Manager is responsible for the successful planning, execution, and wrap-up of various special projects and events for the Martha's Vineyard Builders Association. If you're someone who likes to stay organized, communicate clearly, and isn't afraid to jump in and help out, this could be a good fit for you!

What You'll Do:

  • Help plan and carry out various projects and events for the MVBA.

  • Help keep track of project plans and timelines.

  • Assist in sharing tasks with volunteer teams.

  • Be proactive and think ahead about what needs to be done.

  • Help organize event details

  • Be ready to help with setting up and taking down events, which may involve some light lifting and hanging signs.

  • Communicate with project team members, volunteers, vendors, and MVBA members.

  • Help keep project information organized, like plans and updates.

  • Use basic computer programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs, and social media to share information.

  • Share your thoughts on how future projects can be even better.

  • Help make sure events follow safety rules.

What We're Looking For:

  • Some experience with projects or events is a plus, but we're also open to motivated individuals who are eager to learn.

  • Ability to work well with different people in a friendly way.

  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Willingness to take initiative and figure things out.

  • Comfortable being hands-on during events, including helping with setup and takedown, and being able to lift or assist in lifting some items and hanging signs.

  • Good communication skills, both in speaking and writing.

  • Basic computer skills, including using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) or Google Drive (Docs, Sheets), Canva, and social media platforms.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation for getting around Martha's Vineyard.

Experiences We Prefer:

  • Experience working with non-profit groups or member organizations.

  • Familiarity with the Martha's Vineyard community.

  • Any experience using project management tools (not required).
